Details:

The MAALS laboratory scrubber – under-bench model

can be installed as an additional unit beneath the fume cupboard. The scrubbing principle of the gas scrubber, utilising a bell-shaped base, is characterised by particularly high efficiency with very low water and energy consumption.

The scrubbing principle:

The water, which acts as the scrubbing fluid, is distributed over the bell-shaped base by a low-noise, easy-to-maintain circulation pump. The air extracted from the fume cupboard is passed through this bell-shaped base and, in combination with the scrubbing water, creates a very strong bubbling effect, through which separation efficiencies of up to 96% of pollutants are achieved.

How it works:

The gas scrubber type MAALS-UB operates fully automatically and is virtually maintenance-free. The scrubber is controlled via a compact programmable logic controller. The filling and topping up of the wash water takes place automatically via a level control system, which also controls the pump’s start-up and dry-run protection. The contaminated wash water is discharged via a motorised ball valve with a large, unobstructed cross-section (standard version).

Equipment variants:

  • Conductivity monitoring
The electrical conductivity of the water is continuously monitored. The wash water is discharged when a preset limit value is reached.
  • pH monitoring
Discharge occurs when a pH value preset in the exhaust air system is reached.
  • pH control
The wash water is neutralised using a pH dosing system so that it can be discharged into the sewage system at a neutral pH.
  • Redox control
Through dosing, the wash liquid is adjusted to the required redox potential
  • Forwarding of error messages from the exhaust air system to the BMS

The results:

The MAALS-UB absorption system / gas scrubber achieves above-average removal rates for pollutants. This has been confirmed on multiple occasions by an independent, state-accredited institute.
